Sorting & Material Recovery Planning

Sorting can keep useful materials from becoming a contaminated mixed load. Whether an outlet will accept them must be checked before separation is priced or promised.

Separate materials when there is a confirmed purpose

  • Assess clean concrete, brick, metal, untreated wood and reusable components as separate streams where practical.
  • Confirm specifications, contamination limits, packaging or preparation, fees and destination capacity.
  • Provide safe collection space and loading access without interfering with retained work.
  • Compare added sorting, handling and hauling effort with the project’s requirements.

Condition determines the next step

Paint, treatment, coatings, attached products and suspect regulated materials can change acceptance. Do not describe a mixed or contaminated stream as clean material. Concrete recovery also depends on reinforcement, soil, coatings and the outlet’s requirements.

Meyers can discuss separation and handling in the project scope. Processing equipment, recovery outlets and specialist services must be confirmed for the project; this page does not promise an owned recycling facility or universal recycling service.

Keep recovery evidence distinct from collection

A sorted pile or container shows separation. An accepted receipt identifies a destination. A documented recovery result needs evidence of the receiving operation and the quantity handled. Record those steps separately so the project report reflects what actually happened.

Plan the next step

Request roll-off container pricing or review hauling and material movement. For removal work, review demolition, selective demolition and civil and sitework.
